WHO WE AREAppalachian Youth Service (AYS) was established in 1977 for the care and treatment of “at risk” youth. Our campus is conveniently located minutes off Route 219 and Route 22 on a secluded 12-acre campus in the heart of Cambria County. Our programs are licensed by the Department of Human Services under the 3800 regulations for Child Residential and Day Treatment Facilities. OUR PURPOSEOur purpose is to provide the needed treatment, care, and education to the children we serve. AYS maintains a long list of positive outcomes with the children we serve. All staff members receive extensive training. Topics include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Care, Trauma Informed Care, Trauma Responsive Care, Safe Crisis Management, Suicide Prevention, CPR/First Aid, Basic Safety, Mandated Reporting, 3800 Regulations, Fire Safety, Child Development, PREA, Administration of Medication, and Safe and Prudent Parenting Standards. |
AYS currently operates a 15 bed residential facility and two Day Treatment Programs. All programs utilize the evidenced based practice of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with special attention given to Trauma Informed Care (TIC), Trauma Focused Care (TFC), and Trauma Responsive Care (TRC). Our treatment modality is in line with Pennsylvania’s goal of becoming “healing centered”. |
