KATHYS HOUSE

Kathys House was established in 2001. A staff secure, 15 single bedroom facility features an integrated sensor system and remote video monitoring system. The program was built from the ground up to ensure optimum safety and provide an ample amount of living space for each youth. These enhanced features provide an additional layer of safety for the children. The program accepts court appointed males ages 10-21. AYS maintains strong relationships with many counties throughout the state.

The core of our programming stems from the principals of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Our treatment modality allows youth to grow and aides them in becoming productive members of society. A dedicated treatment team provides youth with the guidance conducive to positive outcomes in life. Because each child is different, AYS individualizes the program to each child specifically to make treatment effective.

AYS has a zero-tolerance policy for all forms of abuse, harassment, and retaliation. Appalachian Youth Services is pleased to report that we had no incidents of abuse, harassment, or retaliation during this past year ending October 31, 2025. AYS attained full PREA compliance during the last audit in August 2024.
